Durban ↔ Johannesburg

Durban to Johannesburg transport on the N3 corridor.

The N3 between Durban and Johannesburg is one of South Africa’s busiest freight corridors, and it is a route Golden Star Carriers runs as a daily super-link service. Because our own base in Ladysmith sits directly on this corridor, we are positioned on the route itself rather than routing through it from elsewhere, which keeps the service straightforward for both full loads and part loads.

The corridor

The route, and Ladysmith’s place on it.

The N3 links the Durban port and industrial catchment in KwaZulu-Natal to Johannesburg and the wider Gauteng economic hub, running through the KwaZulu-Natal midlands and the Free State border region on the way.

N3

Durban ↔ Johannesburg

Daily super-link service · KZN to Gauteng, one of the country’s busiest freight corridors.

Golden Star Carriers is based in Ladysmith, which sits directly on this corridor between Durban and Johannesburg. That is a genuine operational advantage: a vehicle running the N3 does not need to detour to reach our depot, our drivers know this stretch of road as well as any road they run, and it means collections and drop-offs anywhere along the route, not only at the two endpoints, are straightforward to plan around.

What runs on this route

Full loads, part loads, and honest timing.

Full loadsA dedicated vehicle for a single client’s freight, typically run on our Super Link Tautliner or Super Link Flat Deck for maximum palletised or industrial volume.
Part loadsSmaller consignments that do not justify a full truck can be consolidated with other freight moving the same direction, keeping the cost proportionate to the space actually used.
Transit time[CONFIRM WITH REGGIE: typical transit time Durban to Johannesburg, we do not publish a figure here until it is confirmed]. Timing depends on the load, the collection point along the route and current road conditions; a dispatcher will confirm an estimate for your specific load when you enquire.
